Map

State-level market analytics with layers, therapy lenses, per-capita and growth views, cohorts and facility pins.

Open Map -- in the sidebar under Access and Organizations. Requires Pro or Teams.

The Map turns any geo-aware dataset into a choropleth of the United States, then lets you slice it by therapy area, normalise it per capita, and compare states as a cohort.

On Regular, the page shows a locked panel explaining what the Map does and what it costs to unlock.

Layers

A layer is a dataset plotted on the map. Layers are driven by the dataset configuration, so the list grows as datasets are added. Current layers include:

Therapy lens

For layers that support it, the therapy lens restricts the count to one clinical area: Cardiology, Oncology, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics or Family Medicine.

Each lens maps to a specific set of specialty values per layer. If a lens has no mapping for the layer you are on, the map tells you rather than silently returning zero.

Count answers "where is the volume". Per 100k answers "where is the market dense relative to population" -- usually the more useful question for territory planning. Growth answers "where is it moving".

The rail shows the national average for the active mode so you can read a state as above or below the line.

Year picker

Layers that carry a date field can be filtered by year across 2021 to 2025. Growth mode uses this window. Layers without a year field ignore the picker.

Selecting states

Click a state to select it. Shift-click or click additional states to build a multi-state selection. Selection lives in the URL, so a map view is shareable.

With one state selected, the state drawer opens: counts, per-capita figures, a sparkline of the last five years, and links into the underlying table filtered to that state.

With several selected, the compares them side by side.

Cohorts

A cohort is a saved set of states -- your territory, your region, a target list.

  • Save the current selection with a name (up to 40 characters).
  • Up to 25 cohorts are stored.
  • Presets are available for Northeast, Midwest, South, West, Pacific, Mountain, New England and Sun Belt.

Cohorts are stored in your browser's local storage, so they are per-device and are not shared with teammates.

Insights panel

Alongside the map, the insights panel narrates what the current view shows: which states lead, which trail, how the distribution is shaped, and what the lens changed.

Facility pins

Facility-type layers support a pin view: individual sites plotted at their real coordinates rather than aggregated to a state fill. Providers cannot be pinned -- the NPI registry has no per-NPI coordinates, so provider geography is city-level at best.

Market opportunity finder and state compare

Below the map:

  • Market opportunity finder ranks states by the gap between demand indicators and supply indicators.
  • State compare puts two or more states side by side across the same measures.

Limitations

  • Everything is state-level except facility pins. County-level choropleths are not available.
  • Per-capita figures use static state population reference data, not a live census feed.
  • Growth is computed from the same registry snapshots the tables use, so a dataset that was backfilled will show apparent growth in the backfill year.
