Your First 15 Minutes
A guided first session: look up a drug, screen the cliff, save a lead list, and start monitoring.
Follow this once and you will have touched every part of Qope that matters.
1. Sign in and land on Home
After sign-in you arrive at Home. If your account has no active plan yet, Qope opens the pricing page first; pick a plan (Regular and Pro start with a 14-day trial) and you land on Home.
Home shows, from top to bottom:
- Greeting -- with a short status line when something needs you: how many watched drugs changed and how many lead follow-ups are overdue. Browse all data and New lead list sit on the right.
- Search -- one large search box with scope tabs (All, Providers, Facilities, Drugs, Companies, Trials, Areas). Type a name, an NPI or a question; results come back grouped by type.
- What's in QOPE -- one card per data domain (Providers, Facilities, Access, Research, Drugs, Trials) with live record counts, every table in the domain with its row count, and example questions that open a ready-filtered table or view. The question-mark icon on a card opens a short description of that domain.
- Coverage -- Top states by indexed providers, Specialty mix and Facility ownership.
- Connected records -- one example provider, facility or drug and every dataset it links to.
- Latest across QOPE -- the newest data per source, such as drugs in active shortage and recent recalls.
- Lead lists and Radar & pinned -- your lists with lead counts and overdue follow-ups, your watched drugs (an amber dot means something changed) and your three most recent pins.
Home is a launcher, not a dashboard. Nothing on it needs configuring.
2. Look up a drug
Open Drugs > Drug Profile in the sidebar, or pick the Drugs tab in the Home search and type a name.
Type a brand or generic name. Qope resolves brand names to the underlying molecule, so searching a brand and searching its ingredient land on the same profile.
Read the Overview tab first, then The Verdict -- that tab states, in plain language, what the market position of this drug is right now.
Click Watch in the header. The molecule is now on your Radar.
The first time you open Drug Profile, a short walkthrough points out Watch, export, compare and the tabs.
3. Screen the patent cliff
Open Drugs > Patent Cliff.
The default Cliff tab lists every market that opens to generics by the end of next year, grouped by quarter. Each row carries a contestability chip:
- Greenfield -- no generic actively marketed. First-mover opening.
- Open -- only a few generics actively marketed.
- Crowded -- several generics actively competing.
- Eroded -- heavily genericized, margins likely already compressed.
Filter mentally to Greenfield and Open in the next two years. That is your shortlist.
4. Check supply fragility
Open Drugs > Shortages Tracker and go to the Supply gaps tab.
This ranks active shortages by supplier fragility multiplied by Medicare Part D prescribing breadth multiplied by how long the shortage has run. Turn on Structural only to see just single-source and thin-supply molecules -- the shortages caused by there being nobody else to make the drug.
If a molecule appears on both your cliff shortlist and this list, that is the strongest signal Qope produces.
5. Build a lead list
Open any table under Databases -- Providers (in the People group) is a good start. Filter it (State, Primary Specialty), then click Save as lead list at the right end of the table toolbar. Choose how many of the filtered rows to save (Top 100, Top 250 or Top 500, or All when the filter returns 500 rows or fewer) and name the list. A list holds up to 500 leads, and each save uses one credit.
Or click New lead list on Home, then add records from any record page with Add to list.
Already have a list of clinicians? NPI Match (Pro and Teams) matches each row to an NPI and saves the matches as a lead list.
Each lead carries a status (Open, Contacted, Working, Won, Lost), notes, and an optional follow-up date. Overdue follow-ups show on Home, on Radar, and as a count on Lead Lists in the sidebar. See Lead Lists.
6. Set up monitoring
Open Workspace > Radar.
The add box at the top watches a Drug, a Maker or a County: pick one and type a name. Two more kinds are added from tables:
- Markets -- filter the Providers table to one State and one Primary Specialty, then click Watch in the table toolbar.
- Views -- filter any table, then click Watch in its toolbar.
What Radar checks for each kind:
- Drugs -- competition (generic or biosimilar makers and staged generics), protection end, price, shortages and recalls.
- Makers -- Orange Book listings, portfolio molecules, trade names and staged generic filings.
- Markets -- the count of individual providers and how many of them appear in Medicare data.
- Counties -- shortage-area (HPSA) and underserved-area (MUA) designations and their scores.
- Views -- the number of rows the filtered view returns.
Everything that changed since your last review is listed under the What changed tab of the watch board, and stays there until you click Mark seen. The Radar item in the sidebar shows how many watches changed, and each change also lands in the notification bell. Regular watches up to 3 items of each kind; Pro and Teams up to 25.
The first time you open Radar with at least one watch, a short walkthrough shows the add box, status tiles, board tabs, lists, the client brief and export. See Radar and Radar Lists and Sharing.
7. Export
Any table has an Export button in its toolbar. Choose CSV or JSON, pick the fields you want, and download. See Exports for row caps and plan limits.
Where to go next
- Interface Tour -- what every part of the shell does.
- Plans and Access -- what is locked on your plan and why.
- Dataset Catalog -- every table, what is in it, and what it is good for.
